Verse 2-“Our inheritance has been given over to aliens; and our houses to foreigners.” It sounds like a summary of what has been happening in our country for the past decade, illegal aliens are given rights and assistance for which our citizens must work and one day hope to attain.
Verse 4-“We pay for the water we drink, and our wood comes at a price.” Our citizens who work must work to pay for even the most necessary items while people who are in this country illegally, or refuse to work, have all these “basics” and more given to them out of our own pockets.
Verse 8-“Servants rule over us; there is none to deliver us from their hand.” This verse is probably the most important in terms of relevance, and therefore the most chilling; our government, our “public servants”, the judges, senators and representatives, along with the huge bureaucracy of government officials are totally our of control of “we the people”.
Our own Supreme Court Justices who are to be our protection from a failed congress or president; have failed at protecting our nation and its citizens.
I hope that as you read this you realize that I am not making a political statement; (what difference does it make what your party affiliation might be if we experience total destruction?)I am calling us to accountability; calling us to pray earnestly for this nation and its leaders; calling us to remember that Jeremiah wept over the loss of his city/nation, and I am calling us to remember how hard Jeremiah worked to deliver God’s word to His people. Can you and I really be satisfied with less than a sincere effort to petition God on behalf our Country? It is not a question of whether or not God will judge this nation for its sins; we have already been judged! Unless He relents we have no hope. Unless we repent He will not relent. Maybe, just maybe we can follow in Nineveh when Jonah preached to them in 3:10 “Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.”
O God let it be so.
